One of the best and most beautiful spots on earth.
Let me tell you about this place. We drove 6 hours to get here , thinking it would be nice . first of all the road to get here was so awful and scary I really had thought my gps took me the wrong way. My car kept bottoming out and it left it with a bunch of scratches . when we finally got there it took us an hour to actually find the campsite . our campsite was so rocky you wouldn't believe you could camp there. the only place to put up a tent was by the wet sand and our sleeping bags were drenched by the first night. The view was amazing let me tell you that but I could have deffinitaly stayed at a nicer place. And don't even get me started about the bathroom, it was terrifying . the first night was okay, but the next day the flies attacked me as soon as I opened the door. I know it's an out house but there should of been a little more maintenance. We ran out of toilet paper and they wouldn't put anymore in, I had to go buy my own! I love been way out there in the woods, but this place was awful. Never will I return again. And the staff is very rude.
Pristine wild forest with long trails to get to some sites. Complete peace and seclusion. Most campsites are not within each other's sight lines or within earshot. Island sites are best, ten minute paddle from office and launch site. I want to keep it a secret so I can go more often.
This place is amazing. I have been going with friends for the past several years. We decided to try it out in 2013 and all of us fell in love. It is now our summer tradition to make the 5-6 hr drive to Mooselookmeguntic to enjoy the seclusion and peace. This is campground is not for amateur campers. We tend to stay on the Western Shore which allows for even more peace and quiet. But you need some sort of boat or water craft to access the sites. There are drive in sites that are plenty secluded, but we just prefer to be MILES away from anything. The views are amazing, the fishing is great, and the lack of accommodations keeps us comiong back for more.
